Welcome to an exciting opportunity to join Boise State University’s Department of Marketing as Lecturer and Dykman Family Fellow of Professional Sales. The College of Business and Economics (COBE) at Boise State University established the Dykman Family Fellow of Professional Sales to advance and inspire education in professional sales. The Fellow will contribute to the mission of Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics and the Department of Marketing by leading and implementing an effort to develop curriculum and teach courses in the Professional Sales Program. The Fellow’s work will reflect the rapidly evolving environment of business and sales education.

Boise State’s Professional Sales Program will include an academic certificate and a major in professional sales. The Fellow will work with the Director of Professional Sales and Marketing Department faculty to develop vibrant curricular and co-curricular sales learning opportunities and industry engagements. They will commit to designing, developing, and delivering one of the top professional sales programs in the Western United States.

The Fellow will have professional sales experience in industry with a solid foundation in sales theory and a track record of excellent teaching. The fellow will have an MBA or other relevant master’s degree. They will have substantial experience in course and program development or a willingness to engage with top professional sales programs and leverage resources as needed, such as the Boise State University Center for Teaching and Learning to design courses and curricula.

The fellow will be hired and evaluated primarily based on their teaching effectiveness. They must be actively engaged in the industry at the time of hire to qualify as an “Instructional Practitioner” per AACSB accreditation standards and sustain this engagement throughout their employment. This is a non-tenure track position. The Fellow will teach four, three-credit sales or marketing classes each semester. The Fellow will receive annual professional development funding.

Reporting

The Fellow will provide an annual report to the Chair of the Department of Marketing, Dean of the College of Business and Economics, and Provost that details their engagements, accomplishments, and contributions to the Professional Sales Program. Leadership will use the report and other corroborating evidence to ensure that the Fellow meets the goals and responsibilities of the position at a level that merits retention of the Fellowship. 

Department Overview:

Boise State's Marketing Department currently offers Marketing Major (BBA) and Minor programs of study. Students majoring in marketing may choose emphasis areas in Brand and Product Marketing or Marketing Communications. Marketing courses, on average, enroll 34 students per course. Approximately 105 students per year graduate with a Marketing Major.

Minimum/Required Qualifications
  • Professional business experience in sales
  • Master’s degree or higher in business or related field required.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching in Professional Sales.
  • Demonstrated record of service assisting with a professional sales program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coaching/advising students in professional sales
